Larry the Lobster

This was a photograph I took through the window of a seafood place in soho London. 'Larry the Lobster' was first of three drawings I did in which I photographed the deceased, carcass-form of sea-creatures. Deriving influence from Celeste Olalquiaga's book 'The Artificial Kingdom', I wanted to project/highlight this act we humans commit of quite morbidly showing off once alive and swimming oceanic creatures. The act of dressing up something that is dead, making it look pretty. All the while, injecting a little of my humor and childish nature/influences (a.k.a Spongebob).
