'April Snow' depicts two figures, standing closely together, in a snow filled street. This scene feels more and more as though it will become an anachronism. The closeness of these figures coexists with the painting’s overt emotional coldness.

Through the painting’s ambiguity, the picture hints at something hidden or below the surface; in this sense, anchoring itself in a lack of clarity. Contradiction lies in the viewer’s experience of the image: it is a painting that exemplifies an image’s power to concurrently convey and withhold information.

Ultimately, it is a painting that is situated between imagination and reality.
