So Cold It Could Snow

So Cold It Could Snow is an abstract mIxed media piece with one element of still life in the form of a bowl. It has been created in a limited palette of blues, whites and rusts and tells this story. 'There was one winter when my mum couldn’t afford to put the central heating on or buy proper food for weeks on end—so we wore woolly hats in the house, slept with lots of hot water bottles, dressed in front of a fan heater in the bathroom (this was before water and electricity didn’t mix so it was fine) and lived on cereal, soup and sandwiches. I had to scrape the ice off the inside of my bedroom windows to see through them but my mum made living in a fridge seem like fun! I'll still happily have soup and sandwiches for dinner and find it a weirdly comforting combination.'
