A Bonnard Critique
Oil on Canvas

Artist's have always used their partners as models and usually it has been a male artist and a female sitter. This is what struck me when visiting the Bonnard Exhibition in London in 2019. I felt the role of the female sitter has become eroded and whilst wanting to show the togetherness of the couple I also wanted to empower the woman as the artist. Colour as an important is always an important element within my work and I wanted the image to work vsually and on an emotive and intellectual level .
