Many artists will push themselves both physically and mentally to create their artwork, which I wanted highlight and represent within this piece. That is why I chose to include the damage to the knuckles in this painting, which was caused by stretching the canvas. Before one can even think about beginning a painting, the artist is required to make a canvas if they are not lucky enough to have someone make one for them.
