Visibilis is a photobook collating the ways in which technological advancements in the camera provide access to spectrums of light beyond and including the visible, allowing us to reconsider the definition of the Optical Unconscious coined by Walter Benjamin. Inspired by the uses of infrared, visible light and UV light within science and artistic practices, Visibilis examines the interconnectedness between science and art; and how subject matter can tell us something about photography, the same way photography can tell us about the subject. It is interesting to see how the colours we can perceive, exist in light spectrums we cannot; encouraging the audience to question their relationship with the world and the limitations of human perspective.
