Picnic
Acrylic painting and oil pastel on canvas material
Izzy Grant
Goring on Thames

This painting's composition is taken from a mixture of multiple observational on-location sketchbook drawings. The aim is to explore social interchange through hands, focused around the signals that can be seen in hands that indicate mood and engagement in conversation. It is highlighting subconscious body language by playing with scale between the hands and their surroundings. This painting is one of a pair, representative of an engaged and healing interchange between siblings. Whereas its counterpart, 'Hands On the Table' is representative of a slightly less engaged, frustrated interaction.
