This painting is part of a series I have painted that illustrates the journey through life using the Tarot to highlight a specific point in the life course and material objects to depict a certain identity. The trainers/sneakers represent 'the self' and its movement through the life course. The fool is a card that reflects upon youthfulness when a certain ignorance to the pitfalls in life are experienced as it is only through the vicissitudes of life that wisdom is attained by reflecting upon past turmoils.
