Oil on canvas
The Skater is a painting made in August 2021, during a stay at the historic village of Rhuilles. At the center of the work is the Skater inspired by an athlete from the 1950s during the St Moritz Olympics in Engadine. The subject's face is abstract, the outstretched left leg raised off the ground while the right leg traces the line on the ice. Behind, the mountains and lake of the Swiss mountain resort are framed by an abstract polychromatic background. Among the polymorphic forms a bird taking flight on the right, while on the left at the top the eye of Surrealism as a rising sun is dedicated to his father Petros the painter.
