Waxwings come to visit your garden in the midst of coldest, shortest days. As they stick together and travel in irruptions, a frozen bleak tree will instantly become cheerfully decorated by these feathery 'baubles', who have flown for hundreds of miles in search of tasty food. From my childhood till this very day they put a big smile on my face and give me a feeling, that I am in the presence of something magical.
