“The Half Female Lord” with their son

The art describes the form “ Ardhanarishvara”(which means ‘Lord Who Is Half Woman’) composite male-female figure of the Hindu God ‘Shiva’ together with his consort ‘Parvati’. The Top Right(male) half of the figure is adorned with look of Lord Shiva with half of the third eye is visible on the forehead and the Left (female) half shows the half of the tilak(round dot) on the forehead with traditional look of Goddess Parvati. It signifies that the male and female principles are inseparable. The divine couple, with their son’ the elephant-headed Ganesha’ in right bottom. It also depicts their love for Lord Ganesha.
