Primitive colours, in a back to basics kind of thought. The title comes from a short story written about two friends who rest whilst on a walk. It seemed to fit with the two imagined figures perhaps sheltering.

Long fingered adults; some dainty children’s fingers and others gnarled with age cluster around the rusty boat waiting to get on together. Another six hands sit inside the boat and wait to start their treacherous journey. The complete installation, 2.5m x 2.5 m, consists of 130 individually made ceramic hands The hands suggest that this is a predicament that faces us all, and it is only through our collective action that we can bring the instability caused by climate change to an end.

Two lovers, trapped in their obsessions for each other, their togetherness, each others presents, and their bond, is nothing but an unhealthy trap.

About the "pulse of life" series of artistic creation. The "Time Flow" is a series of artistic creations. It expresses my understanding for the time and life, my awareness of myself at present, and the question where I am going. I feel the pulse of life and the passage of time. What is it about the flow of time that pulls us? The happiness or sorrow in the past or in the future?

This painting is from the Topia Series, a series of imagined landscapes based on a sense of place. We all have a place where we can feel at home, whether that's a feeling of peace and calm, or warmth, or maybe some even prefer to feel a raging wind in their faces. Each one of us will find our own sense of belonging in these small, uncomplicated, undemanding paintings.

In this series of abstract paintings, I am interested in the idea that the world (and nature), when truly examined at a sub-atomic level, ceases to exist in any common-sense everyday way, and becomes a mysterious set of unfathomable phenomena. My work is a playful and poetic consideration of this, expressed through a form of abstraction, and entirely improvised, as if illustrating the architecture and interactions of nothingness, of blindly evolving forms.

Inspired by COP 26 in 2021 (where the work was exhibited in the centre of Glasgow during the conference) I created the ceramic, metal, glass and sound installation TERRA FIRMA Leaky boat to bring attention to the destruction that we are causing to our precious planet. The work can be interpreted as a comment about the refugee crisis, or a call to action about the ecological problems that the world is facing, but these crises are inextricably linked. The solution is something that we achieve do together. Refugees are on the frontline of the climate emergency many fleeting from climate hotspots. Three ceramic hands implore to us confined within a rusty metal ring. A single green ceramic leaf sits outside representing our precious natural environment.

I like for the viewer to take what they can from my work based on the feelings expressed within them.

Although the Polar Bears are on separate islands of ice there is still a togetherness, they are communicating. It makes me sad as you think of global warming and this painting represents to me the fact that the polar ice is melting. The sadness is enhanced by the beauty of the Aurora Borealis over the scene, what an amazing world we live in.

This artwork is showing a fisher contributing to the Czech medieval magic with his melancholic character. The sky is representing the artists rollercoaster of feelings when it comes to the city of Prague.

Textured oils add to the depth of the painting. Mist and snowflakes surround you as trees fade in to the distance. A simple pallet of greens and white give a calming effect to this piece.

UKIYO means “Floating world”, a state of mind in which a person live in a moment detached from all the bothers of life. The white and Black represent ups and downs of life whereas the sparkle and crystals represents the miracles of life , where life sustain.

My paintings relate to my local landscape. Atmosphere and the effect of changing light on the mood of my subjects are of great interest to me. I use a water based underpainting then work and rework the paintings with glazes of colour until the image becomes established.

I painted this after a visit to Finland. I was intrigued by the reflections of the clouds in the water above submerged rocks. The rocks are modelled using flexible modelling paste overpainted with acrylic

President Zelensky created using nearly 800 plastic bullets, all handsprayed and each one baring the name of the towns and cities affected by the conflict in Ukraine. A piece that is best viewed as a whole from a distance and examined up close to see the detailed distraction in the bigger picture.

In this piece a cloud like creature is compelled to keep moving by its own reflection.

Lingyan Temple is located 3.5 km south of Lueyang County, and was built in two natural caves along the cliff, with natural charm created by skillfully combining natural and man-made landscapes. The towers and halls of the temple were built into the side of the mountain in an orderly fashion. The caves are very spacious, like a space floating among the clouds. The number of rock carvings on the cliff is as many as 130-plus, among which the most famous ones are the “Ode to the Fu-ge Plank Road” completed in the Eastern Han Dynasty and some stone carvings of literati works of past dynasties, giving the site its name, “Small Stele Forest (Bei Lin) of Southern Shaanxi.”

This old town, surrounded by mountains, bamboo thickets and tree groves, has a long history and rich traces of culture. After the rains, Pingle is bathed in sunlight and smiles reflect in the puddles. The alley next to the river seems to remain still and silent in its own way whereas the river is rumbling, where everything seems so lovely even a tuft of grass can make you stop to admire its pleasant aroma. The water in spring carries an air of arrogance with dazzling brilliance rolling in front of your eyes. When calming down, either the vague flowery scent or new leaves of the banyan trees will make you feel the beauty and wonder of life.

All the tunnels go to one single place

Together the world went through 3 years of Pandemic. As we are coming to its end, it is the cause of celebrating and not quarrelling. We need each other to survive. Let's me on one page. Note that the icons of cities included in the artwork are just symbolic of all the world cities, as it is next to impossible to include all, which are all equivalently lovely!

Work painted in 2018, inspired by English castles.

The Wide & Narrow Alleys are a famous tourist attraction in Chengdu. The neighborhood contains both wide and narrow alleys with various food shops and stores on both sides of the alleys selling clay oven rolls, soup noodles, steamed bamboo-tube rice, skewers, hot pot, etc., as well as many teahouses. After a tiring walk, just visit a teahouse where you can appreciate the tea and the Sichuan opera “Face-Changing” especially prepared by the teahouse owner for customers – it’s so much fun!

The colours relate to healing the throat chakra and the water element in Feng Shui. The black crosses represent times when we may not have spoken our truth or shut down our voice. I infused the water that I used to mix the paint with blue kyanite and sodalite. Kyanite can help with self-expression and speaking your truth and these themes are related to the metal element in Feng Shui. You can also see hints of silver adding more metal to the design. Sodalite is calming for the heart and brings peace. My soulmate dog Mia transitioned midway through painting this and so I included our hearts as always connected and this is why I called it ‘Heart Connection’. She taught me to advocate for her by using my voice. Lobelia also weaves a dance through the painting and this flower has many symbolic meanings; love, friendship and a deep connection between two beings, protection and healing. Everything that Mia brought into my life. I didn't realise the significance of this flower until after painting it. I intend this art work to bring peace and clear communication in your relationships and to serve as a reminder to advocate for your loved ones.

“Shè huǒ” is a folk activity in the northwest that’s been passed down for thousands of years, of which the lion dance is an important cultural activity. It’s performed with two people wearing lion costumes on their heads, waving their hands while dancing to invite auspiciousness and wealth.

Every spring, the two white magnolias on the land at the edge of the dam quietly bloom and then wither, without fanfare nor boasting. They’re as white as snow, as beautiful as jade; they inter-reflect with the sky, staying at my side.

My work reimagines built environments as if they are scenes in a picture book. Although I introduce some fantastical elements, my aim is always to faithfully capture the essence of the place, highlighting the connections between places and the people and creatures who inhabit them. This piece focuses on the Montpellier, Harrogate.

There is a long history embedded in Shaanxi’s Shè huǒ activities. During the Shè huǒ festival, entire communities are lit up with lanterns and decorated with various ornaments, bringing a joyful atmosphere to communities and impressing people. There are also other interesting activities such as the Chéng huáng (City God) Temple Fair, lion dances, bamboo horses, face mask painting, role playing, etc. Shè huǒ has existed in this land for thousands of years, repeating and regenerating, having been recorded through pictures and paintings to conserve related stories and history that have lasted for thousands of years. This is the precise context for me creating this work.

These works explore variation in color and pattern within a motif of a broken flower pot. I use this pot as a metaphor for myself in my larger body of work in the context of my relationship with people and place.

Depicting a group of people searching for a new beginning and adventure

My work reflects my fascination with play, improvisation, small objects and close-up details and explores the crossover between figurative and abstract elements. I am especially interested in exploring the relationship between three-dimensional objects and photography. Using photographs of my own small-scale sculptures and of found objects as a starting point, I investigate how materials, shapes, structures, texture, colour, light and shadow can be digitally manipulated to create images that are suggestive rather than descriptive. I treat light, darkness and shadow as malleable material for shaping photographic images, much like a sculptor uses clay to mould and develop forms and objects. This image is part of a sequence loosely inspired by Hans My Hedgehog, a fairytale by the Brothers Grimm that has fascinated me for a long time. A fairytale provides only the framework of a story and it is up to the reader to fill in the details. Hans – part human, part hedgehog – is an outsider. For this sequence I have imagined him spending his lonely childhood dreaming of a future in which he finally finds love and affection and has got a family on his own.

Breastfeeding is such an awesome moment of togetherness. Feeding your baby is a special bonding time. And yet society often frowns on breast-feeding in public. Here the mother turns away from societies gaze, her breast is visible but she is completely connected to her baby which is represented by the beautiful flow between them.
