Francesca
York
Growing up I was inspired by my Italian Grandmother, who moved to England in the
early 1930s with all her paintings. As a little girl, I remember painting with her in her cramped
little studio, the intoxicating smell, and the incredible mess. My Grandmother - Nonnina
encouraged me to always paint from my heart, to follow my gut, and to squint my eyes when
painting an object!
I have just relocated back to my hometown - Pocklington after 32 years of surviving the
inclement weather & and lifestyle living in San Diego, California! :)
Throughout life, I have always painted here and there but it was not until a few years ago that I
decided to commit to following my dream - to become a full-time Artist! I am inspired by life in
general, the mystery and the surprise, the disappointments, the spirit, and the dance that a
paintbrush and a canvas do together. My addiction is colour and texture.
My medium is Acrylic and ink, paint pens, and Sharpies! The larger the canvas the happier I am.
I thrive on commissioned paintings and would love to work with you on any surface that paint
can adhere to!
