Gina Suzette Reid
Birstall West Yorkshire
Suzette is a Lincolnshire lass which is where she got her love of sky, landscapes and water as she been surrounded by it all her life. She moved to Batley, west Yorkshire in August 2020 and acquired her first studio which has given her the freedom to create more and experiment with new techniques. She's a self taught artist after studying A-level art at Boston college Lincolnshire and finished her degree in media at Carlisle college of art and design. She's always enjoyed painting but gave up doing any painting due to family commitments for over 20 years. In 2012 her personal circumstances changed and in 2014 she picked up her brushes and painted through the night on a piece that captured a holiday on the Norfolk broads. She hasn't stopped painting since and has developed immensely. The artist she is most inspired by is 'Turner'. The use of colour, the capturing of light and freedom of expression in his work are all big influences to her.
She uses Acrylic, watercolour and resin and likes to mix up the mediums to create some textural work that can be touched. By using bright colours, energetic marks and subtle light sources she brings her work to life. She not only paints landscapes, seascapes and magnificent sky's but also has a creative talent for bringing animals to life in her 3D art work pieces. Suzette has recently opened an art hub in Birstall West Yorkshire where everyone is welcome to learn, create and enjoy developing their creative passions.
