Helen Williams

Leyland, UK

Born in the early 1960s and growing up in a very rural part of Essex, much of her early years were spent outside. The foundation of her abiding passion for nature and the natural world. Educated through a small village school to a large comprehensive artworks and creativity were present though not necessarily encouraged. In her early teens, her mother left home, and her older brother followed his own dreams of city lights to go soon after. With only her Dad for support, she took to tasks round the house to help him. Though achieving an 'A' level in art, Helen had no drive to seek a career in creative endeavours. To go to college wasn't seen as a viable option, so she went into full-time work.

Marrying a serving soldier in her early twenties, a life of love, children, pets, and working kept a busy-ness of mind that suppressed her self and her creativity. Occassional projects came up such as creating animal masks for a school play. A Parish Plan to celebrate the Millenium, a printed document which was delivered free to every parish householder contained many line drawings of hers.

Following the sudden death of Gavin, their son at age 28. Helens life flipped in an instant. An opportunity to grieve fully. That embracing of all emotional responses in that lead to an opening to herself. A seeing of how much life is to be lived here and now.

The floodgates of creativity have lead her on a path to creating images with passionate sweeps and swooshes, or refined detail work. All intuitively shaped through her connection in and of her natural self and the Universe around. Little fore thought is given to each images process yet that process is innately trusted. Once complete there can be a reading of it that offers insight to her beingness.

In just 2 years she has practised her craft almost daily. Standing stones and solitary trees in an open sky scape are extremely common along with a moon appearance. All part of her connectedness of being human right now.

2021 winner of a local completion. First prize was to have a copy of the painting presented to Rt. Hon. Alok Sharma President Designate of the COP 26 climate summit 2021 in Glasgow
