Pesya
Sag Harbor
Pesya Altman lives and works in New York City and Sag Harbor. Since childhood, art has been a very important part of her life, even though she was born into an orthodox family in Bnei-Brak, the primary religious city in Israel. She studied in Bezalel Academy and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Pesya founded a visual/object focused theater group in Tel Aviv before she moved to New York 33 years ago. Her work has been shown in galleries in the US, Iceland, Spain, Mexico and Israel, and is held in private collections both nationally and internationally.
Pesya’s work is primarily figurative, mostly oils and acrylics on canvas and paper. She draws with pencil, charcoal, pastels and ink, and is also interested in collage. Her work is inspired by daily life, traveling and living both at home and abroad, influenced by art history and cultural references.
