CHRIS TEAL
Doncaster based Artist for over 20 years, Chris Teal has developed her artistic career from purely commission-based work and selling at craft fairs to teaching all ages and abilities, group demonstrations, and RSPB watercolour workshops, through to solo Exhibitions in her fully equipped Fenwick studio.
Describe yourself in 5 sentences... " 1. Hardworking Yorkshire born and bred Artist and teacher with an amazing supportive family.
2. Wicked sense of humour who loves to party and dance especially to Abba with her friends.
3. Talks too much but loves to meet new people and chat.
4. Enjoys travelling and gardening with her hubby.
5. Caring and likes to help others, especially raising money for the Alzheimer's Society and supporting her local community."
What gets your creative juices flowing? / How does inspiration come to you? "Nature in all its beautiful forms."
Why do you create art? "I am so lucky to have a creative talent so I believe if I can pass that on to others. I have a purpose in life to be shared "
What has been the highlight of your career so far? "Seeing one of my young evening class students progress with her art and create at college .
Plus winning an award at the D31 Exhibition for my work." What does your dream studio look like? "I am very lucky to already have a dream studio built 5 years ago at home."
Where would you like your art to take you? "Art takes me back to happy memories and immerses me in the wonder of nature that surrounds me all the time."
How does your artwork relate to current issues in the world? "Art greatly helps my mental health and my students which is always at the forefront in the world today. Art has given me hope during Covid and during times of loss which we can all relate to in the present climate."
Does art always have to have a deeper meaning?

 " Producing Art has a very deep meaning to me. It enhances people lives, calms the soul and provides tranquility in a chaotic world." Who/what inspires you? Why?

 " Impressionist painters especially Monet have always inspired my work. Light and shadows in nature always capture my imagination plus all of my family especially my mum who had such a strong spirit even at the end."
What brings you joy? " Teaching others and passing on my knowledge brings me great joy."
How would you like to be remembered? " I would like to be remembered as a strong woman who tried to give all she could to others and always made them laugh."
What would you say to your younger self? " Try not to worry so much. xx"
