I am an emerging artist presently studying in Barnsley. Working school and community art projects. Raising awareness through art. Currently working with refugee projects and anti racism in the community. Making a difference through creativity.
Describe yourself in 5 sentences... "1. Working class Mother of three, wife of one.

What gets your creative juices flowing? / How does inspiration come to you? "Community and the struggles of everyday life inspires me. "
Why do you create art? "Art is a necessity in life. Giving a quiet women a loud creative voice." What has been the highlight of your career so far? "Greatest moment in was walking in to university for the first time at 49, to study fine art. Also seeing artists I have looked up to commenting on my work. "
What does your dream studio look like? "A cosy shed by the sea would be my ideal studio. I could take a dip in between working. "
Where would you like your art to take you? "Anywhere to show a working class woman artist from the north can be recognised."
How does your artwork relate to current issues in the world? "At present I am working on a project that highlights the issues of unsafe passage of refugee across the Channel. Giving a voice to those that do not have one. "
Does art always have to have a deeper meaning? "It can just be something that gets you through the day. It doesn’t always have to have a specific point." Who/what inspires you? Why? "Anyone that has overcome adversity or being told you are good enough and go one to be successful. "
What brings you joy? "Cold water swimming and having creative days."
How would you like to be remembered? "As a good person that my children can be proud of. A person who made a difference and stood for something good. " What would you say to your younger self? "Believe, make your own path and be yourself. "
